Mazda Takes Racing Seriously

All it takes is one look at models like the 2012 MAZDA3 and the 2012 MAZDA6 to know that the Japanese automaker means business when it comes to having fun on the road. Their dedication to integrity and dependability within the auto industry is second to none, and this can be further seen in their track record in the 2011 racing season. As such, we here at Menlo Mazda would like to take a minute to go over what this last season has entailed for the makers of some of our favorite vehicles on the road today.

Currently Mazda hosts a slew of partnerships in the racing world, and through them, they've been able to take home a wide range of awards and accolades. More specifically, Mazda is currently teamed with Dempsey Racing, Dyson Racing, Freedom Autosport, i-Moto Racing, Racers Edge, SpeedSource and Team Sahlen, and they've collected trophies for manufacturer's championships at the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) and the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, while also gaining a great position at the Rolex Grand-Am Championship. Impressed? We certainly are!

Mazda isn't just dedicated to true professional racing though. They're also making it a point to provide dedicated drivers with the chance to rise up through the ranks and start a racing career of their own. The MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development Ladder rewards Mazda drivers by advancing them from grassroots kart racing to high level sports car racing; a truly unique endeavor in the world of motorsports.

"Championships actually take years to accomplish, as you need to develop both the people and the products," says John Doonan, Director of Motorsports for Mazda North American Operations. "This success was achieved through the same qualities as our street cars - great performance combined with quality, durability and reliability."1
